During the production of The Lord of the Rings, Wētā Workshop was tasked with helping to build up the very foundations of how Middle-earth was to appear on screen. From the largest of towers to the smallest of Hobbit holes, countless sketches were made detailing every aspect. Not every concept saw its way onto the big screen, but each piece played an important role in exploring the world it belonged to.
 
For the very first time, Wētā Workshop is proud to have the opportunity to bring a replica of Middle-earth props to life, that until now only existed on paper: The Key to Bag End. Faithfully recreated in the style and texturing of the Bag End film-set, this 1:1 scale prop replica is cast in metal (Zinc Alloy) and comes with a stand made of polystone. The Key to Bag End replica, originally designed by Concept Artist John Howe, is a truly unique Lord of the Rings prop.
 
The Lord of the Rings trilogy won seventeen Academy Awards. Wētā Workshop was intrinsically involved in the design and physical effects manufacture for all three films.
